Deck builder (sort-of?) with very limited resources, outside/inside threats, some kind of mechanic to lose cards so you can have very little in your hand at times causing huge anxiety
Card types:
Food-regain/maintain life points–play one every turn or lose a life point
Resource-wood, nails, bricks, metal, parts
Shelter-built with resources, like armor, win when last one built, but as shelter gets bigger, threats increase (flip more cards)
Tools-used to build, fight, or both, single-handed or two-handed (characters can hold two single-handed tools, but only one two-handed)
Threats-other humans, animals, weather, strange creatures
“Threats” deck–threats within the city that attack your group
“Scavenge” deck–scavenge around city to get materials (draw pile)–some “nothing” cards, tools, resources, food
“Explore” deck–go outside the city to risk big threats, big rewards–can go alone or with someone, flip as many cards as people go, but take on each one together so they’re easier to beat
Co-op–goal is to rebuild civilization in the city (build all the shelters), but each player has motives? Could lead to personal+co-op victory double win condition?
2 actions per turn, can be used on:
-Scavenge-place you character at the scavenge deck and draw two cards
-Face threat-place your character at the threat deck to get a first hit bonus
-Explore-place your character at the explore deck to go explore! If your only action this turn, after explore card is revealed you can “run away” for your other action
-Rest-move to or stay in the shelter and gain whatever bonus the shelter offers (if there already and stay for both, gain double bonus) and leave cards to stockpile (needed to upgrade shelter or can be picked up by other players later)
Characters
-range from 7 to 10 HP
-each has talent–can build faster, hit harder, heal others, scavenge better, lead an explorer team better, run away for free, better first hit bonus
-each has backpack size (how many cards you can hold at a time)
Easy, Medium, Hard cards–each deck has set number of cards, can make each deck up of whichever cards you want to reach number
Combat:
threats–have Atk and HP-must deal all damage at once or it stays, deals X damage to someone every turn (except those exploring)
exploring–must take out threat in one hit or it deals damage and goes back into deck. Deck reshuffled
shelter–level up tree (different branches provide different bonuses, require different materials to build), each shelter has stockpile limit, threat attraction number (how many threats per turn) and threat tolerance (how many threats can stack before you lose)–all stats increase each shelter level
Fail states
-shelter destroyed
No one dies, just have to fall back to shelter and lose as many turns as overkill damage taken
